Cenk Tosun beats Ronaldo to UEFA Champions League Goal of the Group Stage, presented by Nissan

Cenk Tosun has beat out competition from the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski to win the UEFA Champions League Goal of the Group Stage, presented by Nissan.

The Besiktas striker took the gong for his acrobatic volley that inspired a stunning fightback as his team clawed back their way back from 3-0 down to Benfica to claim a draw on Matchday Five.

The Tukey international trumped Cristiano Ronaldo’s late free kick on Matchday One that saw Real Madrid secure a valuable 2-1 win against Sporing.

He also saw off Lewandowski’s glorious free-kick that earned Bayern Munich all three points in a 1-0 win against Atletico Madrid on Matchday Six, and another fine set-piece striker from his Besiktas team-mate Ricardo Quaresma, who struck in a 1-1 draw with Dinam Kiev to take the gong for Matchday Two.

The Group Stage brought a glut of phenomenal strikes this term, and Juventus’ Juan Cuadrado will be disappointed to miss out after he fired the ball into the back of the net from the tightest of angles to earn his side a 1-0 victory in Lyon on Matchday Three.

The other goal in line for the prize arrived on Matchday when Legia Warsaw's Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe emergeed victorious after he rifled the ball into the roof of the net in his team's thrilling 3-3 draw against Real Madrid.
