Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy hopes the injury sustained by striker Victor Obinna isn’t too serious and that he won’t be sidelined for too long.

“It’s a hamstring [injury], it’s frustrating when you see someone work so hard and put in massive effort to be there. Then something silly where he sprinted off and felt it (the hamstring), then felt it again later,” McCarthy told the media.

Obinna will undergo a scan where his injury will be assessed, and McCarthy hopes to have him available for their next encounter at home to log leaders Baroka FC in two weeks time.

“He will have a scan and then we will assess the problem. I am hoping that it is just age and not anything serious,” McCarthy said.

The legendary Bafana Bafana forward was pleased to see veteran midfielder Teko Modise take shape and asserting his authority in their last encounter.

“I was pleased to see Teko now taking a massive, commanding role. He was instrumental with his passing,” McCarthy said.
