Tanzanian giants Azam FC have announced the signing of Liberty Professionals striker Bernard Arthur in a two-year deal.

The 20-year-old had a fantastic campaign in the Ghana Premier League last season, scoring 12 goals including a brace on final day against Asante Kotoko to help Liberty avoid relegation.

Although he was linked with several clubs in Europe and the Gulf region, he opted to join Azam after being promised of first team action. He will be a direct replacement for Yayaha Mohammed who mutually terminated his contract with the club last week.

"Azam FC have signed Ghanaian striker Bernard Arthur after completing the necessary documentations," a club statement read.

"We're happy to have him and we hope he will feel at home and team up with his countrymen to help the club achieve success. Welcome," the statement added.

Arthur also admitted his happiness after signing the contract and meeting the club's top hierarchy.

"I'm delighted to be here and just like how every Ghanaian player would wish for, it is my target to be successful here," he said.

"I'll work hard just like I did with Liberty which paved way for this opportunity. I'm happy with the reception and everything and can't wait to start serious business," he added.

Arthur has become the fifth Ghanaian player at Azam after former Aduana Stars defender Yakubu Mohammed, Razak Abalora, Enoch Atta Agyei and Daniel Amoah.
