There is no uncertainty about Swansea City’s ambitions for Monday’s fixture with Liverpool in the Premier League.

Rock-bottom of the table, the Jack Army are in dire need of points to turn their fortunes around in their late quest to beat the drop.

And following Wednesday’s FA Cup victory over second tier side Wolverhampton Wanderers, in-form striker Jordan Ayew says his outfit are in high spirits to shoot down the Reds at the Liberty Stadium.

“We are into a crucial stage of the season and every match is really important,” said, Ayew, who netted a sublime effort in the 2-1 win in midweek.

“Confidence is very important and winning on Wednesday night boosted the team’s confidence. That can help us mentally for Monday’s match.

“We know it’s not going to be easy on Monday but with the support we have and quality in the squad we know we have to start improving and winning games. We need points, and that’s the target.”

Swansea’s crucial winning goal on Wednesday came from the boot of Ivorian forward Wilfried Bony.

The former Manchester City man has struggled with injury and form since completing a summer move to the Swans.

“A striker lives for goals. I’m happy for Wilfried because it’s not been easy for him as he has had to deal with injuries,” said, the delighted Ghanaian.

“On Wednesday, he showed the big, quality striker that he is. His performance and goal give us confidence as a team as well going into Monday’s game.

“We know he is a big player and he can produce big performances, and we all have confidence in him.”

Ayew has netted four times in his last seven games in all competitions.
