The 21-year-old could find himself in trouble with the PSL authorities after reportedly signing pre-contracts with three separate clubs

Defender Ayabulela Konqobe had been one of Thanda Royal Zulu’s standout players in their successful quest for promotion to the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

His impressive displays attracted interest from several topflight clubs, but according to the latest reports, the young defender could find himself in hot water after allegedly signing pre-contracts with three different teams, including Orlando Pirates.

“The poor boy was misled by a member of his family that’s representing him. He signed a pre-contract with (Free State) Stars, then Chippa (United). They then heard that Pirates were interested and they also signed a pre-contract with them,” a source told Phakaaathi.

If reports are indeed true, Konqobe could be forced to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee as was the case in 2008 when Siphelele Mthembu signed contracts with both Kaizer Chiefs and the Buccaneers.

Meanwhile, the source revealed further that Konqobe also agreed to a new contract with Amabhubesi.

“I hear that he had also agreed to a new contract with Thanda after their promotion. So, it’s anybody’s idea as to where he will be playing next season,” the source concluded.
