Awer Mabil looking forward to future Daniel Arzani partnership

While Daniel Arzani's season-ending injury has opened the Socceroos door for Awer Mabil, the Australian attacker can't wait to play on the same pitch as the Celtic teenager.

Though Arzani will be sidelined for up to nine months, Mabil's focus is already on one day lining up in the green and gold alongside him.

"On a more positive side, I think Australian football has a lot to look forward to when Danny comes back," Mabil said.

"Me and Danny can hopefully learn from the older boys that are playing now and one day entertain Australia and win games for Australia.

"That's how I look at it. I don't look at it like 'Daniel is injured, now is my chance'. Daniel's my teammate and we use each other to get better."

Having impressed in his two substitute appearances for Australia to date, Mabil is pushing for a start against Lebanon with Arnold ready to experiment with his starting side.

While Mabil would relish the chance to impress, he revealed the attendance of his mother will be enough to leave him satisfied in Sydney.

"My mum's coming for the night and that's all I need...she's been my biggest supporter ever," he said.

"I'm excited for my mum to come and whether I start or not, I am prepared.

"It's a big game for us players to show that we are proud to represent our country. It's always an honour to play, whether it's off the bench or starting.

"It doesn't matter if I don't start, I'm ready to give my all for my country and my teammates."

Mabil might be relatively new to the Socceroos set-up, but the 23-year-old admitted he's settling in very quickly.

"I feel comfortable, the camp is an amazing place to be in - it's a big family," he said.

A family Mabil is very quickly winning over and leaving his mark on.
