Saudi Arabian football club Al-Ahli's new signing Godfrey Oboabona has been tested positive for Malaria.
Oboabona had been suffering from fever for the past two days but the medical reports have now confirmed the infection, much to the shock of the club officials.
The Nigerian international is Al-Ahli Saudi's new recruit from Turkey’s Rizespor, with the club having secured a deal worth €1.8 million in July.
According to reports, the club is on the lookout for another foreign defender to replace the Nigerian international.
Oboabona started his professional career at Sunshine Stars before joining Rizespor in 2013 in a €500,000.
Oboabona had spent the last four years in Turkey after joining Rizespor in August 2013, but departed the club following the Black Sea Sparrowhawk's relegation, having come to the end of his contract.
Al-Ahli is one of the founding members of the Saudi Pro League and have never been relegated, having won three league titles, 13 King Cups and one Super Cup during their existence.
