Cristiano Ronaldo Juventus 2018-19
The Serie A champions head to Amsterdam where we are expecting Erik ten Hag's side to put in another exciting attacking performance in an open game

Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to return from injury for Juventus as they travel to the Johan Cruyff Arena to face Ajax in the first leg of their Champions Legaue quarter final clash.

Ronaldo picked up a knock while on international duty two weeks ago but is scheduled to return action on Wednesday night against the side that knocked out his former club Real Madrid in the last 16 of the competition.

Latest odds

Ajax lost at home against Madrid back in February before recording a memorable victory at the Bernabeu. SportPesa offer a win for the hosts at 12/5 (3.60) this time around with the draw priced at 47/20 (2.35).

Juve were roundly beaten 2-0 at Atletico Madrid in the previous round before an excellent performance in Turin sealed their place in the last eight. Despite that, Max Allegri's team are 5/4 (2.25) favourites for the win.

Team news

Ronaldo will be back for the Italian champions having passed a fitness test although they have a few other injury concerns.

Emre Can had to come off during the weekend win over Milan and will miss this clash, while Douglas Costa was supposed to make his return from injury in the game on Saturday but was not in the matchday squad. Juan Cuadrado and Andrea Brazagli remain sidelined for Juve. Giorgio Chiellini is nursing a calf injury and has been ruled out.

Ajax for their part have no new injury concerns with Hassan Bande and Carel Eiting long term absentees.

Preview

Ajax may have lost to Real Madrid at home the previous round but they were comfortably the better side against Los Blancos.

Juventus may be utterly dominant in Serie A this season but in the Champions League they have already lost three matches. If Ajax approach the game with anywhere near the same intensity they showed in the tie with Real Madrid, the Dutch side can cause their opponents problems.

The Italian champions have lost their last two away games in the tournament at Atletico Madrid and Young Boys, conceding two goals in each of those matches.

Tips and predictions

Ajax have scored in every game they have contested in this season's competition following qualifying, including a 4-1 win at the Bernabeu and a 3-3 home draw with Bayern Munich. At the very least the hosts can score again on Wednesday night.

Both teams to score has to be of interest at 10/13 (1.77) and is a bet which has paid out in their last two homes games in the competition and against top level opponents.

For a value bet, backing the hosts to score over 1.5 goals at 19/10 (2.90) could also be of interest with the same firm.

Both teams to score at 10/13 (1.77) for a 2pt stake with SportPesa
