Abdullahi Biffo warns Nigeria to ignore Argentina's woes

The Changi Boys tactician has charged that the Nigerian team must remain resolute and ignore distractions from the camp of La Albiceleste

Katsina United coach Abdullahi Biffo says Nigeria must ignore reports of unrest in Argentina camp ahead of their World Cup Group D cracker at the Saint Petersburg Stadium on Tuesday.

La Albiceleste have a point from two matches and they are under pressure to perform against the Super Eagles, amidst alleged insinuations all is not well between the players and coach Jorge Sampaoli.

Biffo, however, warns Gernot Rohr's side to concentrate on their preparations rather than getting carried away by issues emanating from the South American giants' camp.

“I don’t think the report of disharmony in the camp of the Argentines should concern us or make us become jubilant because it may just be a ploy to make us be carried away ahead of the tie,” Biffo told Goal .

“I will like to tell the players and coaches to ignore reports in the media which denote that the Argentines are in disarray ahead of the game. It could be another mind game to make us think that all was not well with them. We need to go ahead with the rest of our preparations and try to stop them.

“This is definitely the right time to beat them for the agony they have made us suffer in the past and we must try to do everything possible to achieve that on Tuesday. The Eagles must be ready psychologically and physically too to stop Messi and his teammates from beating us again. I believe with the right mentality and believe we can beat them.

“They will come charging at us because they know that they need a win to stand a chance of qualifying. It won’t be a stroll in the park like some Nigerians believe. I know that we have the advantage which we must build on against them. We can’t afford to be complacent knowing that all eyes are on us”

Nigeria, on their fifth meeting at the finals with Argentina, will be hoping to break their losing jinx, having lost on all four previous encounters.
