Premier League Betting Preview: City desperate to beat West Ham

The title-holders can't afford to drop any more points after being sucked into a scrap for the last Champions League qualifying berth. Punters believe they'll get the job done

Manchester City are short-priced favourites for a must-win game at home to West Ham United, while Tottenham Hotspur are decent value to come out on top away to Newcastle United.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men, who have won two and lost six of their last eight matches in all competitions, are $1.25 at bet365 to triumph at Etihad Stadium, where the visitors are a lengthy $11 and the draw is worth $6.50 .

The reigning champions have slipped to fourth on the table, just four points ahead of Liverpool and their prospects of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League are now under serious threat.

Thankfully for the hosts, the Hammers’ form has also been poor in recent weeks. Sam Allardyce’s men have only managed one win in 11 games, losing six and drawing the other four.

Back Spurs to win $2.30

Get on a 2-0 City win at $7.50

The previous meeting between these two sides saw the east London club record a 2-1 victory at home in October. A repeat isn’t considered likely this weekend, with that scoreline in the away team’s favour paying a huge $34 .

Far more probable is another 2-0 victory for City at $7.50 , which was the outcome when West Ham visited last season.

Later on Sunday, Spurs are $2.30 favourites away to Newcastle ( $3.30 ), with the draw at St James’ Park priced at $3.50 .
