Wanderers lose Spiranovic for 10 weeks

The Socceroo centre-back will play no part in the Wanderers' ACL last-eight clash with Guangzhou Evergrande and must also withdraw from the A-League All Stars squad
In a big blow for the Western Sydney Wanderers, key defender Matt Spiranovic will be out for around 10 weeks due to an ankle injury, meaning he'll miss the club's AFC Champions League quarter-final in August.

The Socceroo will have surgery on Monday to fix an ankle complaint, though we understand it's not a serious injury.

It means the talented central defender will also miss the A-League All Stars clash with Juventus on August. A replacement will be announced soon.

The 26-year-old will also miss the Socceroos' clash with Belgium in early September.

Spiranovic was one of the stars of the Socceroos' Brazil 2014 campaign and was a key contributor to the Wanderers last season - his first in the Hyundai A-League.
