Performances at both ends of the pitch for Guizhou Renhe by former Gold Coast United and Perth Glory defender Dino Djulbic have been rewarded with a place in the Chinese Super League's All-Star team.

The imposing 29-year-old was named in the squad after a superb campaign with Guizhou, helping guide his side to the brink of AFC Champions League qualification.

Djulbic was the only non-local Asian player to make the squad, which will face Guangzhou Evergrande on November 7.

He joins former English Premier League striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni and ex-Barcelona midfielder Seydou Keita in the squad, though high-profile duo Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka - both of Shanghai Shenhua - are absent.

With several key Guizhou players missing through injury in the final stages of the season, including winger Yu Hai and captain and key striker Qu Bo, coach Gao Hongbo turned to Djulbic as a makeshift target man.

Djulbic reacted by scoring in each of his past three league matches, taking his tally to five goals in 28 league appearances.

Guizhou lie three points from a continental place, with three matches remaining in the campaign.

"In the preseason and some friendly matches, I have involved in the position as a forward, and played quite well. I love this position, so it would never be a problem for me," Djulbic said when interviewed earlier in October.

"We have come back to the right road, and I think we could have a ticket for the ACL next season."

Born in former Yugoslavia but having begun his senior career in Australia with Perth SC, Djulbic is in his second season at Guizhou, who he joined in 2011 from now-defunct A-League club Gold Coast.
