Ismail Aissati reveals desire to leave Ajax in the summer

The Morocco international is ready for a new challenge and hopes to secure a move to Spain after his contract expires at the end of the season

Ajax midfielder Ismail Aissati has revealed that he wants to leave the club after his contract expires in the summer.

The Netherlands-born Morocco international joined Ajax in 2008 but has failed to establish himself as a member of the first team, having spent last season on loan at Vitesse and making just four league appearances for the Amsterdam giants this term.

The 23-year-old announced his desire to leave the club when his contract runs out and has set his sights on a move to Spain but insists he is fully committed to the Eredivisie champions and will make a decision on his future at the end of the season.

"If I leave, I would prefer to play for a team with a similar style to Ajax,” the former PSV player told De Telegraaf.

“Not in the Netherlands, though, I think it is time for me to go abroad. La Liga would be my first choice.”

"I hope to play as much as possible for Ajax before the end of the season. Then I will decide on what I'm going to do when my contract expires.”

Aissati has made just 29 league appearances for the club over the past four seasons.
