Commentary

Thank you for joining our coverage, we hope you enjoyed the game. Until next time, goodbye!
Everton host Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup next, before Crystal Palace pay them a visit in Premier League action. Burnley's next fixture, meanwhile, is a trip down south to face Southampton in the league.
There goes the full-time whistle! Everton's poor home form continues to plague them as they slip to defeat against Burnley at Goodison. Wood opened the scoring with an excellent finish from just inside the box, before McNeil curled in a superb strike from outside the area after some lovely skill to beat Allan. Calvert-Lewin headed home from Davies' cross to halve the deficit, but Everton were unable to mount a comeback. It finishes 2-1 to Burnley!
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: EVERTON 1-2 BURNLEY
90' + 2' The corner is disappointing and Burnley try to break away, but Brownhill and Rodriguez are held up long enough for Virginia to sprint back into position, and the ball breaks Everton's way anyway.
90' + 1' Keane slips a lovely ball in behind for Coleman, who crosses into the area, but it's cleared behind for a corner. Virginia is up for this one!
89' WIDE! Gomes gets into space down the left side of the box and flashes a shot across goal, but he can't keep it inside the post and it fizzes wide!
87' Everton are starting to pile the pressure on now as Iwobi and then Coleman see shots blocked, with the latter's going behind for a corner off Mee.
N. Pope
Yellow Card
85' Pope is now the fourth Burnley player to be booked. The goalkeeper is penalised for time-wasting as he takes an age over his goal-kick.
82' SAVE! Rodriguez is played in down the left side of the box and he lashes at goal from a tight angle, but Virginia covers his near post well and keeps it out!
80' Brady has a go at goal from a free-kick, but he can't keep it down and blazes it high over the bar.
J. Rodriguez
M. Vydra
78' Dyche introduces fresh legs up front with another like-for-like change, replacing Vydra with Rodriguez in attack.
J. Tarkowski
Yellow Card
76' Tarkowski goes into the book for a cynical challenge, barging Richarlison off the ball to prevent an Everton counter.
75' Everton's changes have been accompanied by a change of system as well, with Iwobi drifting out to the right and King lining up on the left instead of the narrow diamond.
S. Coleman
M. Holgate
73' Ancelotti makes another change now, bringing Holgate off at right-back for club captain Coleman, who takes the armband.
71' SAVE! Vydra shifts the ball past Godfrey just inside the box and steers a shot at goal, but it's too central and Virginia gratefully holds on!
70' CROSSBAR! Pieters swings in a terrific cross from a deeper position on the left, but Godfrey does superbly to flick it behind for a corner and away from the danger zone. The corner comes in and finds Mee at the back post, but his looping header bounces off the top of the bar!
68' CHANCE! There's a miscommunication between Virginia and Godfrey as the latter impedes the former from claiming the ball cleanly. It drops to Vydra, who has an empty net to aim at, but he swipes at the ball and doesn't connect! Everton have really got away with that!
R. Brady
J. Guðmundsson
66' Dyche responds with a change of his own, a like-for-like swap between Gudmundsson and Brady out wide.
J. King
T. Davies
66' Ancelotti makes a change as he tries to salvage a result from the game, bringing midfielder Davies off for an extra forward in King.
63' Wood is found in a pocket of space on the left side of the box as Burnley open Everton up with a long ball forward, but the striker's low cross towards Vydra is cut out and the hosts clear.
61' Calvert-Lewin races in behind onto a lovely dink over the defence from Davies and his first touch is good, but it hits his standing foot and ricochets behind for a goal-kick.
59' Keane tries to volley the ball at goal as an Everton free-kick is sent into the middle, but the defender is charged down by Mee and can only slice it wide.
56' Everton have a chance to break down the left as Gomes feeds Richarlison, but the Brazilian ignores the overlapping Digne and tries to cross it in himself, and is charged down by two Burnley defenders.
54' NO PENALTY! Calvert-Lewin takes the ball on the turn in the box and goes to ground under pressure from Tarkowski, but the referee isn't interested and waves his appeals away!
52' Everton are controlling the game more at the start of this second half and have kept Burnley largely chasing the ball.
50' Virginia goes long towards Calvert-Lewin, making a run in behind, but the flag goes up for offside and Burnley have a free-kick.
48' WIDE! Digne crosses into the middle from the resulting corner and Calvert-Lewin meets it at the near post, but he doesn't get good contact on the header and nods wide!
47' SAVE! Gomes works himself a yard on the edge of the box on the left and lashes a shot across goal, but Pope gets down to it and tips it around the post!
46' We're underway for the second half!
Everton enjoyed more of the ball but were second-best in virtually every other department. Burnley have been stronger in their individual duels and have created more shooting opportunities in the final third. Ancelotti will certainly be looking for an improved showing from his men in the second half.
There goes the half-time whistle! Burnley opened the scoring through Wood inside the opening quarter of an hour, with the striker curling a shot in from the edge of the box. McNeil followed up a little over 10 minutes later with a sublime effort, bending right into the top corner from outside the box after beating Allan with a piece of individual skill. Calvert-Lewin got one back for the hosts, heading in from Davies' sumptuous right-wing cross, but Burnley lead 2-1 at the break!
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: EVERTON 1-2 BURNLEY
M. Lowton
Yellow Card
45' + 2' Lowton is the next player to go into the book for a poor challenge as the first half draws to a close now.
45' SAVE! Virginia is called into action already as Gudmundsson finds Brownhill in the box, but the substitute goalkeeper keeps the midfielder's strike down the centre of the goal out!
João Virginia
J. Pickford
43' There's a change in goal now as Pickford is unable to continue, with young goalkeeper Virginia coming on to replace him.
41' Burnley win a corner as Godfrey gets in the way of a Brownhill strike from distance, but it comes to nothing. The visitors have looked very threatening in this half.
39' MISS! Gomes delivers into the box where Calvert-Lewin meets it again, but he can't steer his header on target this time and nods high and wide from close range!
A. Westwood
Yellow Card
37' Westwood picks up the first yellow card of the game following a poor challenge on Calvert-Lewin.
36' CHANCES! Westwood has a go towards the top-right corner from a free-kick but can't keep it on target, before McNeil sees a shot blocked and then Gudmundsson nods over the bar from the centre of the box!
34' SAVE! Richarlison looks for an equaliser as Everton start to look more threatening, but his long-range effort is saved low down by Pope!
33' Calvert-Lewin has scored more headed goals than any other Premier League player this season (6). The last Everton player to score more in a Premier League campaign was Tim Cahill in 2009-10 (7).
T. Davies
Assist
32' The quality of Davies' delivery was excellent - an accurate cross with plenty of pace and the perfect flight for Calvert-Lewin to head at goal.
D. Calvert-Lewin
Goal
32' GOAL!!! EVERTON HAVE ONE BACK!! Davies has the ball on the right and delivers a wicked ball into the middle for Calvert-Lewin, who meets it six yards out to power a header past Pope! It's 2-1 now!
30' WIDE! McNeil swings a corner in and this time it does find Mee, but the central defender can only nod wide of the left-hand post!
28' Pickford looks to be in some pain after diving for that Gudmundsson shot. He receives some treatment, but will stay on for the time being.
27' POST! Burnley win the ball high up the field and McNeil feeds Gudmundsson, who drives towards the left before steering a low effort towards the bottom-left corner, but it comes back off the post!
25' That was McNeil's seventh Premier League goal, but his first ever away from Turf Moor.
M. Vydra
Assist
24' Vydra claims an assist for finding McNeil in an advanced position, but the young winger made that goal out of nothing with some terrific individual skill.
D. McNeil
Goal
24' GOAL!!!! WHAT A STRIKE FROM MCNEIL!!! McNeil receives the ball from Vydra in the inside-right channel and beats Allan with a neat piece of skill before bending a sumptuous effort into the top-left corner off the inside of the post! Pickford had no chance with that! It's 2-0 to Burnley now!
23' NO PENALTY! A Burnley corner is swung to the back post where Mee challenges Holgate for it in the air. Holgate's elbow is raised and connects with the ball, leading to furious appeals for a spot-kick from the visiting players, but nothing is given!
22' Pope goes long to Wood, who takes the ball under control and hits one from outside the box, but Godfrey gets in the way and blocks it behind for a corner.
19' Everton are still seeing plenty of the ball but they're not able to create much with it at present. Their passing still lacks the sharpness needed to unsettle Burnley's low block.
17' Holgate tries to whip a cross in from the right but gets far too much on the delivery. It's retrieved by Digne on the other side, who puts it back into the middle, but it's headed clear. Burnley look comfortable at the moment.
15' Wood has now scored in back-to-back Premier League games for the first time this season, doing so with Burnley's first shot of the match.
C. Wood
Goal
13' GOAL!! BURNLEY TAKE THE LEAD!! Davies is shrugged off the ball by Brownhill and McNeil bursts down the left before lashing a cross into the middle that deflects off Keane and falls for Wood just inside the area. The striker takes a touch to set himself before bending his shot around Holgate and into the far corner! It's 1-0 to Burnley!
12' Richarlison is again fed with space to turn into just outside the box and he tries to slip it into the box for Calvert-Lewin, but Pope is off his line quickly and holds on.
10' Everton are absolutely dominating possession at the moment, enjoying over 77% of the ball in these early stages.
8' BLOCK! An Everton corner is half-cleared to the edge of the box where Davies tries to lash it at goal first-time, but it clatters off a Burnley defender and the visitors get it away!
5' Everton have moved away from their usual system today, lining up with a narrow midfield diamond as they seek to exploit the space between the lines of Burnley's rigid 4-4-2.
3' SAVE! Iwobi is given space to drive into through the middle and he finds Richarlison just outside the box. The Brazilian takes the ball on the half-turn and drives towards the right side of the box before thumping a shot towards the top-right corner, but Pope beats it away!
1' We're underway at Goodison Park!
Five of Burnley’s last seven Premier League games have ended level (W1 L1), though all of these draws have come in home games. None of the Clarets’ last six away league games have been drawn (W2 L4).
Everton have won five of their six Premier League home games against Burnley (83%) – among teams they’ve faced at least five times at Goodison Park in the competition, they’ve only got a higher home win rate against Fulham (93% - 14/15). However, the Toffees have lost four of their last six home league games (W1 D1), as many as they had in their previous 22 at Goodison Park. They did win their last such match though, a 1-0 victory against Southampton.
Burnley boss Sean Dyche is forced into making one change of his own after his team's fortuitous 1-1 draw against Arsenal. Pieters starts at left-back ahead of Charlie Taylor, who is unavailable due to injury, joining Jack Cork and Ashley Barnes on the treatment table.
Everton head coach Carlo Ancelotti makes one change after his side were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last time out. Sigurdsson drops to the bench and is replaced in midfield by Davies. James Rodriguez, Robin Olsen, Fabian Delph, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Jean-Philippe Gbamin all remain sidelined through injury and miss out.

Burnley XI (4-4-2): Nick Pope; Matthew Lowton, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Erik Pieters; Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Ashley Westwood, Josh Brownhill, Dwight McNeil; Matej Vydra, Chris Wood.
Everton substitutes: Tyler Onyango, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Josh King, Harry Tyrer, Joao Virginia, Niels Nkounkou, Seamus Coleman, Nathan Broadhead, Yerry Mina.

Sixth-placed Everton find themselves just five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, but with two games in hand on the Blues and will hope to take a big step towards the Champions League places as they host Burnley, who are just four points clear of the relegation zone and have not won in their last five league outings.
