The People’s Elephant's fine run on the continent might have come to an end, but many of their players left the tournament with reputations enhanced

    #5 Sunday Adetunji

The prolific forward joined in mid-season from Enyimba’s fierce rivals Abia Warriors and was an instant hit, getting involved in the penalty that won the game at Djoliba before registering his first goal for the club in the 5-1 demolition of Rayon Sports. The former Shooting Stars man also scored some goals during the Federation Cup and, with all he’s shown, there might be little need to worry whether record marksman Mfon Udoh returns to the fold or not.

    #4 Ikouwem Udo

He has been a revelation at left-back, so much that calls have been made for him to be drafted into the Super Eagles. That is a testament of how good Udo is, because without him, Enyimba might not have dreamt of making it all the way to the Confederation Cup semis.

    #3 Dare Ojo

His ability to play at right-back or in defensive midfield gave Enyimba that extra solidity and depth. Ojo’s work rate and willingness to try his luck from range were always a joy to watch, while his experience also proved invaluable during the club's trickier moments.

    #2 Ifeanyi Anaemena

He was ever-present at centre-back and truly the best of the bunch as Enyimba conceded just one goal at home since the start of the group stage. Anaemena’s rock-solid performances and stand-in as captain in Udoh’s absence certainly earned many plaudits among the Aba faithful.

    #1 Theophilus Afelokhai

Arguably the jewel of the crown in the squad. He was not first-choice for much of the campaign but got the nod starting from the penultimate group game away to Djoliba which Enyimba won 1-0. Afelokhai would go on to extend his clean sheet run to 270 minutes. His imposing presence between the sticks was no doubt key to Enyimba’s late escape from Group C, and it’s not hard to see why he rapidly became a fan favourite.
