The Socceroos claimed a last-gasp 2-1 win over Hungary in Budapest as they completed their World Cup preparations.

It was a disappointing overall performance by the green and gold, who were sparked into action by Daniel Arzani's second-half strike, which squirmed through the hands of Hungarian goalkeeper Dines Dibusz.

A calamitous mix-up between Trent Sainsbury and Brad Jones allowed Hungary the equaliser with two minutes to spare before Australia snatched the win in stoppage time as Tamas Kadar put through his own net.

Goal examines the performance of all the Socceroo players as they gear up for their first World Cup match against France.

  • Maty Ryan Socceroos

    Maty Ryan

    Rating: 8/10

Made a world class save after Milligan's error and looked strong in the first half despite plenty of pressure. Was substituted at half time for Brad Jones.

  • Josh Risdon Socceroos

    Josh Risdon

    Rating: 4/10

Was targeted and completely exposed by Hungary and their winger Roland Sallai. It's concerning he will be up against France in six days.

  • Mark Milligan Socceroos 2018

    Mark Milligan

    Rating: 3/10

Made some horrible errors including two howlers that should have been punished with goals against. Will be lucky to keep his spot against France.

  • Trent Sainsbury Socceroos

    Trent Sainsbury

    Rating: 5/10

Was okay throughout the game but communicated poorly with Jones for the goal he put through his own net. Needs to lift to another level against France.

  • Aziz Behich Socceroos

    Aziz Behich

    Rating: 5/10

Did let his winger in behind a few too many times but improved in the second half and got forward on occasion.

  • Aaron Mooy Socceroos

    Aaron Mooy

    Rating: 6/10

Improved in the second half with Jedinak brought on to break up play but performed nowhere near the quality of his performance against the Czechs.

  • Massimo Luongo

    Massimo Luongo

    Rating: 5/10

Another anonymous performance in midfield from Luongo. His position against France is in serious jeopardy to Jedinak now, who he was substituted at half time for.

  • Tom Rogic

    Tom Rogic

    Rating: 5/10

Had very brief flashes of brilliance but too often played a poor pass when a better one was required. Bert faces a tough decision between Rogic and Irvine.

  • Mathew Leckie Socceroos

    Mathew Leckie

    Rating: 6/10

Australia's best attacking outlet in the first half - dropping in between the lines nicely. Faded in the second period and crossed poorly.

  • Robbie Kruse Thailand v Australia World Cup qualifying 15112016

    Robbie Kruse

    Rating: 5/10

Got himself into some dangerous positions in the first half but fell out of the game after half time.

  • Andrew Nabbout Socceroos

    Andrew Nabbout

    Rating: 5/10

Worked hard up top but had no impact in the first period and was taken off for Juric.

  • Mile Jedinak Socceroos

    SUB - Mile Jedinak

    Rating: 7/10

Looked rusty but added steel to the midfield in the second half and released Mooy. Shaping as a starter for the France game.

  • Tomi Juric United Arab Emirates v Australia World Cup qualifying 06092016

    SUB - Tomi Juric

    Rating: 6/10

Came on at half time but was then subbed off for Cahill for the last 10 minutes. Held the ball up well and looked better for the run out.

  • Brad Jones Socceroos 2018

    SUB - Brad Jones

    Rating: 3/10

Looked shaky in goals and communicated poorly - especially for the own goal. May have slipped behind Vukovic to third goalkeeper.

  • Jackson Irvine Australia v United Arab Emirates World Cup qualifying 28032017

    SUB - Jackson Irvine

    Rating: 7/10

Worked hard and played the cross for the own goal winner. May have got himself ahead of Rogic for the France opener.

  • Daniel Arzani Socceroos

    SUB - Daniel Arzani

    Rating: 9/10

Scored his maiden international goal in his second cap. Also played a stunning through ball to unlock Hungary's defence for the winner. His movement was outstanding and was clean with his passing. Will figure heavily during the World Cup.

  • Tim Cahill

    SUB - Tim Cahill

    Rating: N/A

Only played 10 minutes but put himself about physically.
