After just releasing top scorer Massimo Maccarone, Brisbane Roar have swiftly named his replacement announcing that Australian striker Adam Taggart will join the club on a two-season deal.
Taggart has spent the past two years at Perth Glory scoring 21 goals across 38 appearances after returning from a stint with Fulham that was scuppered by injury.
Off contract at the end of this season, the 24-year-old opted to depart the club that is currently without a coach in the wake of Kenny Lowe's sacking.
Glory owner Tony Sage is less than happy about the manner of Taggart's exit however calling the Socceroo a 'liar' and declaring his actions a 'two-fingered salute' to the club on social media.
Upon being unveiled as a Roar player for next season, Taggart expressed his excitement at linking up with such a historically successful club.
"I am delighted to be joining the three-time champions, Brisbane Roar for the next two seasons,” Taggart said.
"I’m ready to hit the ground running in pre-season and I’m excited for what the future holds.
"I cannot wait to start working with John [Aloisi] and the rest of the team as we push for a fourth championship.
"It’ll be a special moment for me when I get to run out onto Suncorp Stadium for the first time in orange.”
Taggart started his A-League career with the Glory before spending two seasons with Newcastle Jets, making Roar his third A-League club.
