Zambian Champions, Zesco United have confirmed Yanga’s George 'Chicken' Lwandamina as their new head coach after the departure of Tenant Chembo.
Lwandamina’s contract in Yanga is expected to expire at the end of May and he is unlikely to sign a new deal.
Goal understands that the former Chipolopolo defender has signed a pre-contract with the Ndola based side and will take over at the end of next month..
Lwandamina will be returning to Zesco for his second spell having left them to join the Jangwani Boys in 2016. He led Zesco to the Vodacom Premier League title in his debut season and also guided them to to the semi-finals of the Caf Champions League in 2016.
Yanga are preparing to face Singida United in the Ligi Kuu on Wednesday and they have a second leg clash with Ethiopia’s Wolayta Dicha in the CAF Confederation Cup on April 18.
Lwandamina’s men sit second on the table, six points behind the league leaders Simba who have played a game more.
Zesco United decided to name Lwandamina following the departure of Tenant Chembo who joined Buildcon.
The news would neither be confirmed or denied by Yanga’s Executive Committee Member, Salum Mkemi who could only confirm that Lwandamina has left the country.
“We have also received the news, but we cannot confirm because Lwandamina is out of this country since last weekend,” said Mkemi.
