The results left Yanga at the bottom of the table following a 1-1 draw between Rwanda’s Rayon Sports and Kenya’s Gor Mahia

Yanga kicked of their Caf Confederation Cup group stage campaign in a disappoint style after accepting a 4-0 away defeat from USM Alger in Algeria.

This continues the series of poor results Yanga have received when they play with the teams from North Africa especially away from home.

The defeat comes one week after Yanga accepted a 1-0 defeat from arch rivals Simba in the Ligi Kuu, a result which left the Jangwani club with no hopes of retaining their title for a fourth time in a row.

The results left Yanga at the bottom of the table following a 1-1 draw between Rwanda’s Rayon Sports and Kenya’s Gor Mahia in another match of group D.

Yanga who were without at least six key players started the game without a recognized striker with young star winger Yusuph Mhilu deployed as false number nine.

The move did not seem to work out as the home side dominated the game from the start and went ahead in less than five minutes through Oussama Darfalou who was early tipped by Goal as one of the players to watch.

With incoming head coach Mwinyi Zahera watching from the stands, Yanga were under caretaker coaches Noel Mwandila and Shadrack Nsajigwa and they went further behind through Farouk Chafai who headed in the 33th minute to make a comfortable 2-0 lead for the home side until the break.

Abderrahmane Meziane added another goal, nine minutes after the restart to make the job even tougher for the visitors who are winless in the past five games in all competitions.

With only seconds remaining before the final whistle, Yanga conceded a penalty which was expertly scored by Mohammed Zemmamouche.

The visitors did not create any serious opportunities to score throughout the game with the home side dominating the game by more than 75 percent in possesion.

Yanga will now turn their attention to the next game were they will meet Rayon Sports in May 16 at the Benjamini Mkapa National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.

Yanga missed some of it's key players including Ibrahim Ajib whose wife gave birth on Saturday.
