USM Alger coach Miloud Hamdi is relieved that they will take on Gor Mahia minus striker Meddie Kagere on Wednesday.

Hamdi, who jetted in the country on Monday with his squad in readiness for the mid-week clash, is thankful that they will face K'Ogalo minus Kagere, who is serving suspension.

Kagere, who scored in Gor Mahia’s 1-1 draw in the Group D opening match against Rwandan side Rayon Sports, is suspended for the tie after picking his second yellow card of the competition.

“I know what Kagere can do and I am happy that he will miss out,” Hamdi told Goal at the JKIA after the team touched down.

The Algerian side have planned to use the set back to inflict a painful defeat on Gor Mahia at home and maintain their perfect start in Group stages after beating Tanzanian side Yanga 4-0.

“Gor Mahia have top players and their coach is great. We must not underrate them. We must be focused throughout the match.”

Alger are top of the Group with three points, two above Gor Mahia, who are joint second with Rayon Sports, both on a single point.
