Where is the Venezia Stadium?

Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo (also known as 'Stadio Penzo') is located on the island of Isola di Sant'Elena, which is on the main island group's south-eastern tip.

Public Transport

The nearest railway station is on the other side of the main island, but one may travel to the stadium quickly by using one of the ACTV boats. The Sant'Elena island can be reached by boats 1, 41, 42, 51, 52, 61, and 62.

Walking

You can also walk to Sant'Elena through the Giardini. It takes approximately 20-30 minutes to walk from the San Marco district.

What is the Venezia Stadium capacity?

Stadio Penzo currently has a seating capacity of 11,150. However a record attendance of 26,000 was achieved in 1966 when Venezia played AC Milan.

When a tornado hit the island in 1971, the stadium was severely damaged and, as a result, the capacity was reduced to just 5,000 seats.

As Venezia began to climb the leagues again in the 1990s, the stadium was gradually expanded, and when they were promoted to Serie A in 1998, new makeshift stands were built. The capacity then would hold just under 15,000 people.

Since then, safety measures dramatically reduced the capacity by half, before renovations in 2021 took it to the 11,150 seats it currently holds.

When was the Venezia Stadium built?

Stadio Penzo originally opened in 1913, making it Italy's second-oldest stadium with a professional club.

It began as a simple wooden structure, but in the 1920s it was extended and a new concrete main stand was built as part of the project. The stadium was then further modernised and enlarged after Venezia earned promotion to Serie A in 1939.

Which teams play at Venezia Stadium?

Does Venezia Stadium host music concerts & other events?
