Ulinzi Stars crashed out of the 2017 Caf Confederation Cup tourney at the hands of Egyptian Premier League side Smouha on Saturday but they have quickly moved on.
A 3-0 return leg win at the Machakos County Stadium could not see the Soldiers through having conceded four goals in their first meeting in Egypt but Chairman Lt. Col Erick Oloo gives credit to Kenyan fans, who supported them during the matches.
“The fans really gave us the motivation we needed and though we didn’t achieve the target of progressing, the win was a huge morale booster to the team. From the ones who came to the stadium to those who supported us on social media, we say thank you.”
They have now shifted focus to domestic competition with Kenyan Premier League title being a priority.
“The players gave their best and put in a good performance. We now want to see more of that as we head into the league and I believe they got some good motivation from that win,” he told the club’s official website.
