Udinese ace Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has ruled himself out of playing at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, saying he is not in the plans of Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah.

The 28-year-old has not been called up since Appiah returned for a second stint in charge of the Black Stars in 2017.

His hopes of convincing the 58-year-old for a look-in was set back by a terrible injury, which kept him off the pitch for 11 months. The former Bursaspor man only returned last month.

“I must be honest to myself, I know I'm not in the plans of the coach. Not when I just returned from injury," Badu told Asempa FM.

"Even when I was playing actively, I wasn’t in his plans.

"So personally, I don’t think I'm in his plans for now.”

Badu also shed light on his time out in the treatment room.

“It was a difficult moment staying out for that long but thank God I am fully fit,” he said.

“I can say I am 100 per cent fit and ready to play. What I need for now is some few matches to actually shape up my fitness level.

“I'm back, and want to help my club.

"We are really not in a good position [on the league table], so I want to help them finish in a respectable position with the few matches left."

Badu, upon his injury return, has made one league outing for Udinese. He has been an unused substitute on three occasions.
