The Covert Agent: Adelaide United close in on the signing of Danish attacker Ken Ilsø

Adelaide United are close to boosting their attacking stocks with the signing of Danish forward Ken Ilsø.

The Covert Agent can reveal the Reds are hoping to officially announce the 31-year-old as an Adelaide player over the next few days.

Ilsø last played for Malaysian club Penang but terminated his contract in May after he allegedly hadn't been paid for three months.

The 183cm attacker has been particularly prolific in the Asia over the past few years, scoring 35 goals in 51 games for Singapore's Home United between 2015-16 and also 15 strikes in 18 matches for Malaysia's Kedah FC last year.

The Heerenveen youth product has also played for German clubs Fortuna Dusseldorf and VfL Bochum, and enjoyed a stint with Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F.

Adelaide saw foreign attacking trio Johan Absalonsen, Daniel Adlung and Karim Matmour leave last season with fringe Socceroo Craig Goodwin and Danish centre-half Michael Jakobsen the only players added so far in this off season.
