According to reports, Orlando Pirates star Thamsanqa Gabuza could be headed for the exit door at the Soweto giants.

Gabuza joined the Sea Robbers at the beginning of the 2013/2014 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, but has experienced a rather tumultuous time in Houghton, especially with the Buccaneers fans.

The striker has often been criticised for his lack of goals, having only contributed seven league goals since joining the club.

Despite Gabuza’s struggles though, he has remained in the Pirates technical team’s plans, but after bringing in the likes of Augustine Mulenga and Justin Shonga in recent time, the 30-year-old has found game time difficult to come by.

Nonetheless, a source close to the player suggests that a move away from the club could soon be on the cards, with Gabuza reportedly accepting that his future lies elsewhere.

“He knows his time is up at the club,” the source close to the forward told Phakaaathi.

Furthermore, the source states that a return to his former club Golden Arrows could possibly be on the cards.

“Pirates are a completely different team with a lot of youngsters at the moment. And right now he is not playing regularly, that is why he is already seeking a future elsewhere. The best bet is that he will go back home to KwaZulu-Natal and play for Golden Arrows – he loves that team very much,” said the source.

However, with the January transfer window now closed, Gabuza appears to be part of coach Milutin Sredojevic’s plans, and if he is to eventually depart, nothing can be finalised until the end of the season.

Nevertheless, all eyes will now fall on Pirates’ next game against a rejuvenated Ajax Cape Town in the Nedbank Cup- a side who most recently beat Pirates 3-0 in the league, as to see whether or not Gabuza will feature.
