AmaZulu recently acquired the Premier Soccer League (PSL) status of fellow KwaZulu-Natal side Thanda Royal Zulu, and they have been on a mission to bolster their squad ever since.

Usuthu have already made several acquisitions ahead of the new season, but the spending spree is not done just yet as they are reportedly closing in on the signing of the SuperSport United duo of Michael Morton and goalkeeper Boalefa Pule.

The pair currently find themselves on the fringes at the Tshwane club with Morton resigned to playing second fiddle behind the likes of Dean Furman and Reneilwe Letsholonyane, while Pule’s chances of game time has taken a considerable hit with the recent long-term extension of Ronwen Williams’ contract.

Nonetheless, according to reports a move to Durban is inevitable for the duo.

“Morton and Pule will be playing for AmaZulu come next season. The deal is good as done,” a source told The Star.

Meanwhile, AmaZulu team manager Qedi Dlamini confirmed that they are in talks with SuperSport, but refused to divulge any names.

“Yes, we are talking to various PSL clubs about signing certain players. The positions that we want to beef up are central midfield, upfront and left back," he said.

“I don’t want to disclose the names of the teams and players we are negotiating with, because that might jeopardise our talks. Let us wait and see until everything is finished,” Dlamini concluded.
