Sofapaka ace Hillary Echesa has told Kenyan Premier League defenders to prepare for the impending terror posed by his strikers this season.
Echesa believes that Sofapaka have assembled one of the deadliest striking force, further warning that defenders should be ready for the real torture from Stephen Waruru, Kepha Aswani and Umaru Kasumba.
The trio scored cumulative 33 goals between them last season for their respective clubs before Sam Ssimbwa brought in Aswani and Waruru from Nakumatt and Ulinzi Stars respectively.
The duo will link up with Ugandan import Kasumba, who scored nine league goals despite joining the former champions in the second leg.
“Waruru and Aswani are top strikers in Kenya. They have been banging goals for the past years. I think other teams, especially defenders should expect some rough ride from Sofapaka this season,” Echesa told Goal, adding that the main agenda, though, is winning the league.
“We were number two last season, so our target this year is to win the league. You can’t be number two then expect to be number three (following season)."
Sofapaka will play their third friendly against Ugandan champion KCCA on Friday at Narok Stadium.
Batoto ba Mungu have so far seen off opposition from Gremio and Kangemi All-Stars in pre-season build-up matches.
