Harambee Stars players will have to wait for Fifa's decision on the fate of Sierra Leone before they could receive the Sh50m promise from William Ruto.

Deputy President Ruto had pledged to give Kenya players the cash should they book a place in the 2019 Afcon finals.

FKF President Nick Mwendwa said that Kenya will have to wait for the verdict by Fifa to know if they will still play suspended Sierra Leone. The country was suspended from the ongoing qualifiers due to government interference.

"Caf have told me that Sierra Leone might be reinstated, if that happens then we’ll need a point from them in November to qualifiers, but if they will not be reinstated then go there (to DP’s residence) in November.

“That’s why we requested him not to honor the pledge because we still don’t know if Sierra Leone are in or out. If we get the news tomorrow that Sierra Leone are out, then in November we’ll do as we’ve planned.” Mwendwa told players in the dressing room.

Meanwhile, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko honored his pledge of Sh3 million that he handed to captain Victor Wanyama moments after the match. This is after Kenya beat Ethiopia 3-0 on Sunday to top Group F with seven points.
