‘See you next season, Arsenal!’ - Fake Europa League account trolls over 50,000 Twitter users

It has not taken long for the trolling of Arsenal to begin following their tumble out of the Champions League elite and into the Europa League.

Having previously boasted a faultless record of never finishing outside the Premier League's top four under Arsene Wenger, the 2016-17 campaign has seen that run come to an end.

The Gunners will be turning out in the continent’s second tier competition next term, as they prepare for life in the Europa League.

Arsenal are not going to be allowed to forget that fact any time soon, with a post from a fake Twitter account drawing a response from some 58,000 fans.

“See you next season” was the message to Arsenal from the ‘Europa Leaguue’.

Spurs supporters will be among those delighting in such messages, having finally broken their St Totteringham’s Day curse to finish above their arch-rivals for the first time in 22 years.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side ended the Premier League season in second spot, three places and 11 points clear of the Gunners.

They will be in Champions League action next term, but their neighbours from across north London will be welcoming Thursday night football to Emirates Stadium.
