The Ghanaian was on target as The Eagles edged Fulham away at Craven Cottage

Ghana international Jeffrey Schlupp got his season off to a glorious start with a goal in Crystal Palace's Premier League opener against new boys Fulham on Saturday.

The utility man registered the first half opener at Craven Cottage before Wilfried Zaha added the second to ensure a 2-0 away triumph for The Eagles.

It was indeed a delightful sight for the 25-year-old, who ended last season on a low due to injury.

Deployed in left midfield, Schlupp put Palace 1-0 up in the 41st minute with a ferocious shot into the roof of the net after being played through by Patrick van Aanholt.

He became the centre of attention again in the 74th minute when his effort to protect their slender lead drew a booking from referee Mike Dean for time wasting.

Five minutes later, Palace shocked the hosts with another goal, this time through Zaha, who was neatly set up by Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Fulham tried to fight back, but the visitors bravely held their own to claim all three points.

The result gives Palace a perfect start to the season ahead of their next game against Liverpool.

Schlupp's compatriot and new Eagles acquisition Jordan Ayew was missing from the matchday squad following his late transfer from Swansea City on Thursday.
