Saif-Eddine Khaoui, Yacine Bammou earn Caen draw vs. Montpellier

Saif-Eddine Khaoui and Yacine Bammou registered a goal each in Caen’s 2-2 stalemate with Montpellier in Wednesday’s French Ligue 1 game at Stade Michel d'Ornano.

After Saturday's defeat to Saint-Etienne, Fabien Mercadal’s men avoided a repeat of a similar result with the African duo rescuing them out.

Khaoui opened the scoring ten minutes into the encounter but Andy Delort cancelled out the strike in the 37th minute.

Damien Le Tallec's 51st-minute effort got the visitors in front for the first time in the game but Bammou, who replaced Khaoui in the 60th minute, levelled proceedings for the hosts four minutes after his introduction.

In the 83rd minute, Michel Der Zakarian's men were reduced to ten men after Vitorino Hilton was sent off for a serious challenge on Malik Tchokounte.

With the result, Caen are 16th in the league standings with seven points from as many games having only secured victory once this season.

Khaoui and Bammou will be looking to continue the inspiring form for their side when they clash with Amiens in their next league tie on Saturday.
