The lanky forward had struck what looked like the winner after the hour mark, but the hosts ensured the points were split with a last-gasp finish

Paul Onuachu scored his eighth goal of the season as Esbjerg held Midtjylland in a dramatic 2-2 draw in Sunday's Danish Superliga encounter.

Jakob Lungi Sorensen put the hosts ahead a minute into the second half, but strikes from Alexander Scholz and the Nigerian striker put the visitors ahead.

They would, however, have to settle for a share of the spoils with Adrian Petre scoring the equaliser after five minutes of additional time.

Onuachu had made way for Mayron George in the 89th minute before the dramatic finish to the game. The 27-year-old was playing in his 13th league game of the season and now has eight goals.

Had they won, Kenneth Andersen's side would have retained their spot atop the Superliga log but Copenhagen, after a narrow win at Brøndby, are top as they now have 34 points - two more han their title rivals - from 15 matches.

Also, the draw halted Midtjylland’s winning run in the league as they won all previous four games. They will hope for a quick return to form when they square up against Vejle next Sunday.
