Sofapaka midfielder Charles Okwemba celebrates goalGoal Kenya.

Okwemba: My dream was to retire at AFC Leopards

Charles Okwemba was released by Sofapaka after securing a job with the county government of Vihiga in Western Kenya.

The midfielder will reportedly turn out for Vihiga United in the National Super League once both parties have agreed on terms. However, the midfielder is still disappointed with the fact that he did not fulfill his desired wish before making the move. “Every player has a desire and wish, and I am not an exception.

"Honestly, Leopards has been in my heart, and my desire was to retire in that team. Last year I tried to get them into signing me, but things did not work out. They took a long time in making a decision and I ended up joining Sofapaka," Okwemba told Goal on Thursday.

"Well, I had unfinished business at The Den but I was not given a chance to attend to it. But I wish them the best in the league, and will always support them."

AFC Leopards is currently placed in the bottom half with sixteen points from fourteen matches.
