Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr has lavished praise on Bafana Bafana striker Percy Tau, saying he hopes to see him in one of the big leagues in Europe.

The Belgium-based player caused all sorts of problems for the Super Eagles defence in the 1-1 draw between South Africa and Nigeria at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

"Congratulations to this player Percy Tau. I hope to see him in a big team in Europe, in England or the championship. He is a really good player,” Rohr told the media after the match.

“You have a wonderful player in Percy. You have a very good goalkeeper (Itumeleng Khune). The captain (Thulani Hlatshwayo) is a good player. It's a good team to go to Afcon, but it will not be easy in the last match. But I can give your coach advice for that match if he wants,” he added.

Although the German coach wanted a win to avenge the 2-0 loss they suffered against Stuart Baxter's men in June last year, they secured a point on Johannesburg and still qualified for the finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

However, the manager lamented the empty venue where many people expected to see big crowds at the 2010 Fifa World Cup hosting venue.

"I was surprised that the stadium was empty. You have such a game and the stadium is empty. I don't understand how. Especially in this kind of game. If we had this game in Nigeria, we would have a lot of people,” he lamented.

The result has made things a bit difficult for the hosts who will face a stubborn Libya in their final Group E match away next year in March next year.

Bafana will need a draw or a win to secure their ticket to Cameroon, but the Mediterranean Knights are not going to be an easy customer after demolishing Seychelles 8-1 on Saturday afternoon at Stade Linite.

Following Saturday's results, Bafana now have nine points behind the Super Eagles who have 10 points and the North Africans have seven after four games so far.
