Nick Mwendwa sets Afcon minimum target for Harambee Stars

Nick Mwendwa has set a minimum target for Harambee Stars ahead of the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The Football Kenya Federation boss says that Kenya must break the bad record of exiting the tournament at the preliminary stage, adding that Sebastien Migne and his boys must aim to move to the next stage.

Kenya has appeared in five Afcon tournaments, but the East African nation has never reached the second round. But Mwendwa, while speaking on Thursday, says he wants to see that Harambee Stars break the duck in the now expanded tournament.

“In the last Afcon finals, we have never gone past the group stages. So getting to the second round will be good for us.”

Harambee Stars last took part in the 2004 edition where they lost 3-0 to Mali in the opening match. Kenyan then went down 3-1 against Senegal and finished up the Group C campaign with a 3-0 victory over Burkina Faso.
