NFF president Pinnick 'rooting' for Ghana in 2017 Afcon

Nigeria Football Federation president, Amaju Pinnick has shown solidarity with Ghana in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

The Black Stars who are eyeing a fifth African title will begin their campaign against Uganda at the Stade de Port-Gentil on Tuesday.

And Pinnick whose administration has seen the Nigeria senior national team miss two Afcon tournaments seems to be rooting for Ghana to emerge as champions.

He paid a courtesy call to the Black Stars’ camp on Monday afternoon ahead of their clash with the Cranes in Port-Gentil.

“@thenff Prez @PinnickAmaju visits the #BlackStars & @UgandaCranes to offer his support ahead of their start of their #afcon2017 campaign,” the Ghana FA tweeted before it was yanked off.

Since the Super Eagles lifted the title in 2013, it has been a near impossible task for them booking a place in the biennial football showpiece – missing out of Equatorial Guinea 2015 and surrendering Gabon 2017 ticket to Egypt.

Victory for Avram Grant’s men on Tuesday will put them in good position to qualify from Group D that parades Mali and Egypt.
