The Nigeria Women’s Premier League champions and Emmanuel Osahon’s ladies have crashed out of the competition at the group stage

Nigeria Women Premier League champions Nasarawa Amazons and FC Robo crashed out of the Women’s Federation Cup after failing to progress from the group stage on Friday.

Christopher Danjuma’s side crumbled 2-1 to Bayelsa Queens at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium to finish behind second placed Sunshine Queens and winners the Yenagoa girls in Ijebu Ode.

In Calabar centre, Emmanuel Osahon’s side bowed 1-0 to Edo Queens at the UJ Esuene Stadium to exit the competition, losing a quarterfinal place to Delta Queens.

While Ibom Angels and Confluence Queens played out a goalless draw in a dead-rubber encounter on Friday in Enugu as both secured the quarterfinal spots after wins over Delta Babes.

Champions Rivers Angels defeated Osun Babes 2-0 to finish top of the ladder in Lafia as the Omoluabi girls edged Bayelsa Queens feeders to the second spot at the Lafia City Stadium.

In the quarterfinal stage, Ibom Angels will battle South-South rivals Delta Queens, while Confluence Queens will trade tackles with neighbours Edo Queens.

In the other last eight ties, The Port Harcourt girls will face 2015 winners in a rematch of 2016 finals, which was won by Edwin Okon’s side, while Bayelsa Queens will meet Osun Babes.

Head of the Federation Cup unit, Emmanuel Adesanya says all the quarterfinal games in the women’s Federation Cup are scheduled to hold on October 3, 2018.
