Muhoroni Youth dents Posta Rangers title hopes

Rangers’ players have come under harsh criticism from head coach Omolo basting his defenders for unconvincing performance in Nakummatt defeat

Struggling Muhoroni Youth dented a blow, Posta Rangers chances of lighting their maiden Kenyan Premier League title after they held the mail men to a barren draw in a mid week match.

Bottom placed Muhoroni Youth who are ideal candidates for relegation, fought tooth and nail to grab a vital point at Ruaraka Grounds on Wednesday.

Posta Rangers, 11 points behind leaders Gor Mahia who controls the table with 47 points, suffered another set, just three days after they lost 2-0 to another mid table team, Nakumatt FC at the same venue which is becoming some sort of a cursed ground for head coach, Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo.

Rangers’ players have come under harsh criticism from head coach Omolo who blasted his defenders for unconvincing performance in Nakummatt defeat.

This time around, the defence didn’t allow any goal to go in, but the side that was leading the table just two months ago dropped crucial two crucial points that could have seen them move to third and within a touchable distance of second placed Sofapaka.

Posta Rangers started the game on a good footing, taking full control of the match in the opening half, but Muhoroni Youth held their grounds to absorb the pressure.

With the game wearing out and Posta blowing a away the few chances that came their way, Pamzo side resorted to trying their luck from outside the box, but even their shorts could not trouble Salim Sowedi in Muhoroni’s goal.

Simon Mbugua and Dennis Mukaisi came close to giving Posta the opener in the opening minutes of the game but their efforts were either saved or went out of target.

Muhoroni Youth were equallly guilty of wasted chances and it is Thomas Venval's blown away opportnity in the seventh minute that interim coach, James 'Odijo' Omondi should demand an explanation.

The draw saw Muhoroni Youth move off the bottom to position 17th-above Thika United on a better goal aggregate. Muhoroni and Thika both have 20 points.
