John Obi Mikel and Frank Acheampong scored a goal each in Tianjin Teda’s 4-2 loss to Shanghai Shenhua on Sunday.
The former Chelsea midfielder found the back of the net for the first time since May as Uli Stielike's men failed to end their winless run in the Chinese Super League since August 18.
Giovanni Moreno opened the scoring for the Shanghai Shenhua in the 14th minute before Mikel’s 22nd-minute equaliser put both teams levelled.
Eight minutes later, Acheampong put the Tianjin Tigers' ahead with his effort from the penalty spot.
The Ghana international also had another opportunity to score a brace from the spot but failed to beat goalkeeper Li Shuai in the 39th minute.
Zhu Jianrong’s 44th-minute goal put the two teams on level terms into the break.
After the restart, Senegal’s Demba Ba set up Jianrong for his brace in the 83rd minute with Fredy Guarin putting the icing of the cake in added time.
The result leaves Tianjin Teda who have registered six losses and four draws in their last 10 games in the 14th spot in the Chinese Super League with 28 points from 27 games - three points above the relegation zone.
They travel to Chongqing for their next game against Chongqing Dangdai Lifan on Saturday.
