Few El Tri stars were able to stand out during Easter weekend, but the Pachuca product got his first Eredivisie minutes since February

It was a down week for Mexican players in Europe. There were few highlights. No goal from one of the usual suspects. No big triumphs. Yet, there were still things El Tri manager Tata Martino will have had his eye on this weekend.

One significant event was an Erick Gutierrez sighting in the Netherlands. After nearly three full months without seeing action, the midfielder came in for PSV as a substitute in a 3-1 victory over ADO Den Haag. Guti was the first change off the bench and played 13 minutes in the contest. Hirving Lozano was involved, as usual, playing all 90 minutes and setting up the opening goal. While PSV looks to be back into a good rhythm, it's still chasing Ajax. The Amsterdam side sits on top of the Eredivisie table on goal difference.

Not far from the Netherlands, Guillermo Ochoa's title hopes with Standard Liege took a blow. "Memo" couldn't keep Genk from scoring three goals and got just one from his team. Genk is now six points clear of second-place Brugge, though a Champions League place, through finishing top two, may still be in reach for Standard.

Omar Govea went the full 90 on Monday for Antwerp against Brugge, a match that resulted in a scoreless draw.

Neither Mexican forward based in England was able to celebrate this weekend. For Raul Jimenez, it was a frustrating scoreless draw with Brighton and Hove Albion, the second consecutive match without a win for Wolves. Jimenez played all 90 minutes.

Chicharito missed out on West Ham's 2-2 draw with Leicester because of an ear issue - not because he was in Italy as some tabloids speculated based on his wife's Instagram posts.

In SpainDiego Lainez made an appearance, coming on for Real Betis in the 75th minute and joining Andres Guardado on the field. Betis, however, slipped to a second consecutive defeat in La Liga play, falling 2-1 to Valencia. That puts the Verdiblancos in ninth place in the table, nine points behind rival Sevilla in sixth - a place guaranteed to be in the Europa League qualification stage.

Nestor Araujo took a step toward staying in La Liga next season, though Celta de Vigo isn't close to fighting for a European spot. The Santos Laguna product went the full 90 in a 2-1 win over Girona that takes Celta three points clear of the relegation zone.

Two Mexico center backs based in Spain were inactive, with Hector Moreno not making the squad for Real Sociedad's 2-1 loss to Barcelona and Diego Reyes taking in Leganes' 2-1 loss to Villarreal from the bench.

After a frustrating week that saw them eliminated from the Champions League, Hector Herrera and Jesus "Tecatito" Corona helped Porto to a 1-0 over Santa Clara in league play. Herrera started and went the full 90 while Corona came in for the final half-hour of play. Porto remains at the top of the table, while Feirense is at the very bottom.

Finally, Antonio Briseno and Feirense had their fate sealed this weekend. They'll drop out of the Primeira Liga with a 2-0 loss to Braga meaning they can't escape the drop. They've won two matches drawn nine and lost 19 and are a full 12 points behind the team sitting second to last.
