Mathare United veteran midfielder Vincent Okello has refuted reports that he has retired.

The influential star has been in the game for almost two decades since making his debut as a youngster for the ‘slum boys’. Okello has also revealed his optimism about this season saying the players are ready for it.

"That is news to me, I have not retired at all, and those reports are not true at all. I am still in it and I have a lot to offer this team, I still have it,” Okello told Goal on Monday.

"This season we will be aiming to doing better than the previous one. The players on board have the talent and are hungry for success. We expect to do better and hit great heights."

The ‘slum boys’ lost several key players in the last transfer window but coach Francis Kimanzi is confident with his new crop of players ahead of season kick-off.
