Philippe Coutinho is close to completing a club record €150 million move to Barcelona from Liverpool, Goal understands.

The Brazilian is set to become the third most expensive player in history, surpassed only by Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, who signed for Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona and Monaco respectively.

Jardim says Lemar won't be sold in January

Monaco head coach Leonardo Jardim has said that his side will not allow Thomas Lemar to leave the club this January.

The 22-year-old is a long-term target of Liverpool and Arsenal, but Jardim says Lemar won't be leaving Monaco until summer at the earliest.

"Monaco are not in the habit of making big sales in the winter. It's our strategy. The players understand and they know how it goes here," Jardim said.

Puel insists Mahrez is happy at Leicester

Leicester City manager Claude Puel believes Riyad Mahrez is happy at the club and rejected claims the winger will seek a move away in the January transfer window.

Many of Europe's biggest clubs have been monitoring the Algerian attacker, who handed in a transfer request this summer that ultimately went unfulfilled. 

"He is happy with the squad, it is speculation but for me it is no problem. He is happy to play with this team, he enjoys his football and this is the most important thing," Puel said.

Liverpool eyeing shock Alexis move

Liverpool are considering a shock move that would see them sign Alexis Sanchez to replace Philippe Coutinho, according to Don Balon .

The Reds are on the verge of selling Coutinho to Barcelona, and while Alexis seems poised to join Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp's side reportedly are prepared to make a last-minute bid for the Arsenal star.

Coutinho could cause FFP issues for Barca

Spanish outlet Gol Digital claims Barcelona could find themselves in a world of trouble if they complete the signing of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.

The report suggests the wages being offered to the Brazilian by the Catalan side could have Financial Fair Play implications that could see Barca fined and banned from Champions League football for more than a year.

Messi calms outraged Barca stars over Coutinho pay

Barcelona's leading players have been left outraged by the personal terms offered by the club to Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho, Diario Gol reports.

Many of the club's first-team stars disagree with the prospect of the 25-year-old leapfrogging them on the pay scale and it has taken moves from Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta to calm them down. 

However, Gerard Pique, the third captain of the Catalans, stands with the bulk of the squad, widening the rift. 

Watford eye Markovic move

Watford are targeting a January move for Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic, according to the  Daily Star .

Markovic impressed under Hornets boss Marco Silva at Hull City last season, and the Portuguese coach is keen to reunite with the former Benfica man.

The Vicarage Road outfit are also keen on Leicester City striker Islam Slimani and Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong.

Lemar decides to join Liverpool

Monaco star Thomas Lemar has decided to join Liverpool ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United, according to Yahoo Sports

Arsenal tried to sign Lemar last summer, but failed to finalise a €95 million deal on deadline day which, in turn, prevented Alexis Sanchez from joining Manchester City.

Liverpool were also interested in Lemar in the last transfer window and are ready to make a renewed push to sign the France international in January, with Barcelona trying to agree a deal for Philippe Coutinho.

Manchester United have also been linked with Lemar, but the winger has decided he wants to join Liverpool and he could become the replacement for Coutinho at Anfield.

Valverde coy over Coutinho move

Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde has refused to comment on whether a move for Philippe Coutinho is close.

The Liverpool midfielder is keen to complete a move to Camp Nou in January after the Reds rejected three bids over the summer.

Liverpool in battle for Alisson

Liverpool are locked in a battle to sign Roma goalkeeper Alisson, according to  Gazzetta dello Sport .

The Reds are keen to add a new keeper to their squad, with neither Simon Mignolet nor Loris Karius able to bring any consistency to Jurgen Klopp's side.

They have turned their attention to Brazil international Alisson, but face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for his signature.

Liverpool eye Ceballos as Coutinho replacement

Liverpool have identified Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos as the man they want to replace Philippe Coutinho, according to Diario Gol

Ceballos is apparently fed up of waiting for a chance to prove himself under Zinedine Zidane and has communicated his desire to leave, through his agent, to president Florentino Perez.

And the Reds are keen to make their move, seeing him as the ideal replacement for Coutinho, who is closing in on a switch to Liga leaders Barcelona. 

Max keen on Premier League move

Augsburg left-back Philipp Max is keen on a move to the Premier League but doesn’t expect to change clubs in the January transfer window.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool have all been linked with an approach for Max, who is under contract at Augsburg until 2022.

The 24-year-old said: "I have a contract with Augsburg. In football, you can never rule anything out but I firmly believe that in the second half [of the season] I will play for FCA."

There is a growing feeling from the Spanish outfit that a bid over £130million will get the deal done, with Coutinho having pulled out of Liverpool's match against Burnley on New Year’s Day.

Liverpool lead Goretzka chase

Liverpool are the leaders in the race to sign Leon Goretzka from Schalke, according to Bild ( via the Express )

Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayern Munich have all been mentioned as possible landing spots for the 22-year-old midfielder, but the German publication seems to think the Reds are winning the race. 

Goretzka is out of contract in the summer, and the club have already moved to bring in another midfielder this winter, opening the door for his possible exit.
