Alongside Jamie Vardy, winger Rachid Ghezzal is a huge doubt for Leicester City’s trip to Brighton & Hove Albion for Saturday’s English Premier League clash.

Defender Harry Maguire will miss the game and star striker Vardy skipped several sessions during the week due to a groin injury, returning to training recently.

On Thursday, summer signing Ghezzal reportedly underwent a scan to a leg injury and, according to coach Claude Puel, his participation in the visit to the Amex Stadium still hangs in the balance.

“[James] Maddison came back to training and we will see tomorrow but I think he can be in the squad,” Puel said ahead of Brighton game.

“Maguire is too early at the moment. It was not a serious injury but longer than Maddison.

“For the moment it is a normal time to come back. He ran this morning and step by step he improves and I hope he can come back in training next week.

“We will see next week and we have some problem with Ghezzal and Jamie he was in pain after the last the game and he came back to training today and we will see tomorrow.

“I hope Jamie can be available. We will see. He has a groin injury and we have to manage this and step by step he comes back to training.”

Ghezzal’s 10th Premier League appearance may have to come later.

The former Lyon player has a goal in nine top-flight games for the Foxes - who are sure of having Nigeria duo Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, urged to shed some 'weight', available to face Leon Balogun’s Brighton.

Ghana multi-functional player Daniel Amartey remains one on the former league champions’ treatment table. He is set to spend three to four months after a serious ankle injury suffered against West Ham United last month.

Leicester are placed 10th in the log, garnering 17 points from 12 games.
