Despite only recently making his first team debut for Amakhosi, the 19-year-old has been dealt a major blow

Kaizer Chiefs youngster Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has suffered a major blow which not only rules him out for the rest of the domestic season but should also see him miss out on the upcoming Fifa U20 World Cup.

The 19-year-old was only recently introduced into the Chiefs first team by head coach Ernst Middendorp, making his debut against Maritzburg United and even starting against SuperSport United.

However, Ngcobo eventually needed to be stretchered off in the 1-1 draw against SuperSport leading to much concern after Chiefs revealed that the midfielder would undergo tests at the start of the week.

Nonetheless, it has since been confirmed that the U20 star will miss six months of action due to him having picked up an Achilles injury.

This should come as devastating news to the player as he was an influential part of the South Africa U20 national team which claimed a bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and subsequently booked their ticket to the global showpiece event.

Ngcobo though will now be forced to watch from the sidelines due to such a long lay-off.

Chiefs took to Instagram to confirm the news and also wished him well in his recovery.

"Ngcobo will be out for 6 months due to Achilles Tendon injury we wish him a speedy recovery and stand behind him," a statement by the club on their social media read.

This season, Chiefs have been plagued by injuries to many of their stars with Ngcobo now joining the likes of Itumeleng Khune, Lebogang Manyama and Joseph Molangoane among others, who are currently on the nursing table at Naturena.
