Bengaluru FC have announced the signing of Spanish winger Eduardo Garcia Martin on a one-year deal.

The 27-year-old is the fifth Spaniard signed by the Jindal Steel Works (JSW) owned club and the eighth foreign recruit signed this summer.

The addition of Martin completes the foreign player quota for the club ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Super League (ISL).

The Zaragoza-born winger came up through the youth ranks of hometown club Real Zaragoza whom he joined at the age of 12 in 2002. Martin progressed through the ranks to advance to the Real Zaragoza B team in 2009 where he spent three season until 2012.

In 2012, Martin moved to Spanish side CD Ebro where he stayed for one season before moving to SD Ejea in the following year.

He returned to Ebro in 2014 where he had his career best season with 16 goals to his tally helping the side gain promotion to the Segunda Division B. The winger shone in Ebro’s campaign in the Spanish third-tier league where he scores eight goals.

His performances for CD Ebro forced Real Zaragoza to resign him in 2016 and the left-winger went on to take 27 appearances for the club in the Segunda Division as they finished 16th.

The ISL will be the first taste of overseas football for the Spaniard who has spent his entire career up till now back in his country.

Bengaluru FC’s Spanish coach was delighted with the signing of his compatriot and said “Edu is an exciting young winger. His versatility down the flank will provide us with great options in terms of personnel as well as our game plan. He will be a great addition to our squad and fits in well with our philosophy.”

Martin, in return, was equally delighted for the Bengaluru based club and said, “I'm very excited for joining the club. From the first time, I liked the idea of playing for Bengaluru's team in the Indian Super League. Football in India is growing a lot and it's an important challenge for me. I hope I can help the club to reach the objectives for the season. I can't wait to start!”

The left-winger has a lot of goals up his sleeves and could be a vital addition for Roca’s men as they prepare for their first ever tryst with the ISL.
