Inter boss stresses Asamoah's superiority over Dalbert in Inter's left-back battle

Luciano Spalletti says the Ghanaian's performance puts him up as the club's first choice No.3

Kwadwo Asamoah's status as Inter Milan's first choice left-back looks set to continue after receiving a seal of approval from club manager Luciano Spalletti.

Since joining the Nerazzurri in the summer, the Ghana international has been the Italian side's main No.3, commanding the position ahead of Brazilian competitor Dalbert Henrique.

The later's performance during the club's last league game, though, has prompted a few calls for more opportunities. In the Champions League, he has been completely sidelined from action so far.

"Dalbert has done well and deserves to be playing more, but Asamoah is doing extremely well in that position," Spalletti said about his squad during a press conference on Saturday.

"We are playing in a number of competitions and we need a strong squad.

"[Roberto] Gagliardini, Dalbert and Joao Mario deserve to be praised for being exemplary professionals.

"It's not easy when your teammates go away to play in the Champions League and you stay at home to train.

"They're demonstrating that they're always ready."
