East Bengal have roped in Spanish winger Jaime Santos Colado as their sixth overseas signing for the 2018-19 I-League season.
The 23-year-old has come up through the youth ranks of Sporting Gijon before making a move to CD Mirandes in the summer of 2017. After spending just six months with the Spanish third division club, the winger has been a free agent since January this year.
The Kolkata giants are currently under a transfer embargo imposed by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) due to irregularities in their attempts to sign defender Sukhdev Singh from Minerva Punjab in the summer.
With the transfer embargo on the club set to be lifted by the AIFF on November 30, East Bengal will be able to register the Spaniard in their squad in the coming days.
East Bengal had been able to make only five overseas signings when they were hit with the transfer embargo in September.
The Red and Golds made a flying start to their campaign under head coach Alejandaro Menendez Garcia by registering two away victories before they were handed a loss at home by Chennai City in their most recent fixture.
