I-League 2017-18: East Bengal's Khalid Jamil - ' It feels good to be back in Aizawl'

After a fairytale I-League-winning campaign last season, Khalid Jamil returns to Aizawl FC, albeit in the role of the visiting team's head coach for the first time.

A man of few words, the former Mumbai FC manager did reveal his excitement to be back amidst familiar surroundings. "(It) feels really good to be back here," he said.

"Aizawl are a good team. They are doing better than last year. All the players are really good," added Jamil, praising the side who are currently sixth on the table.

The 40-year-old added, "We must work hard. Players must give their hundred percent. We are thinking about tomorrow’s match. They are a good team. Pressure is there but we have to give our best."

Three Mizoram players return to Aizawl with Jamil as well. Fullback Lalramchullova and wingers Brandon Vanlalremdika and Laldanmawia Ralte followed Jamil to East Bengal after a victorious 2016-17 at the Reds.

"Brandon is a quality player. He may start or come in the second half. We need his services. Chullova and Ralte should work hard and give hundred percent in tomorrow’s match," commented Jamil on the local lads.

East Bengal trail league leaders Minerva Punjab FC by four points and with a fully fit squad, barring new signing Dudu Omagbemi, who is yet to be formally announced by the club, they will be aiming for three points before the impending Kolkata derby against Mohun Bagan on Sunday.
