British Broadcasting Corporation aired a documentary recently about the rot in the African football, and among the referees, who were mentioned is Kenya's Aden Marwa.

The referee is seen in the video package taking 600 dollars (Sh60, 000) though it is not clear what the money was paid for. The news came as a shock to many Kenyans considering the Chemistry teacher was set to officiate in this year's World Cup in Russia.

The expose was produced by controversial Ghanaian journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and exposes Marwa alongside dozens of other match officials allegedly getting the cash.

"How comes he just mess up his career!! Poor him no wonder Gor Mahia and AFC fans always riot ! The official seems rotten," Julius Yego Ogw Oly.

"Too bad for him! This should serve as a lesson to other referees not only in Kenya but worldwide with similar habits," Reginald Asibwa.

"The vice is deeply rooted...but I know if FIFA was a country it would just be like Kenya. The vice is deeply rooted in the body as well," Meek Dee Jnr Dominic.

"Just the other day he was talking about being a role model and an inspiration for others to emulate. I also learned he's a teacher by profession," Ondara Zablon Kerima.

Marwa was on his seventh year serving as a Fifa official. He also made the final list for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil but was not given any match to officiate.

He officiated as an assistant referee at the 2016 Club World Cup in Japan.

He was named as a Caf assistant referee in the 2017 Fifa Confederations Cup and featured in a similar capacity in the 2012, 2013 and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations as well as at Chan (African Nations Championship) competitions, Under-17 World Cup, Caf U-23 Championship and the Fifa Club World Cup.
