Hot Adomah talks about Aston Villa ambitions

Aston Villa winger Albert Adomah wants the club to break into the top four after propelling the side to fifth on the English Championship table on Saturday.

The Ghana international was the hero at Villa Park as his 49th minute strike ensured a 2-1 win for the Claret and Blue Army.

"We're in the play-off places – now we need to stay there," Adomah said, as reported by his club's official website.

"That's the next target I believe, and I'm sure all Villa fans will agree with me.

"So the next target is to stay there and then push on.

"It's still early on in the season. Now we're in the play-off places I think we need to keep that momentum and stay in the top six."

Adomah has now tallied five goals in six league starts this season, having made nine Championship appearances in all.

He also has one goal in two outings in the League Cup this campaign.

"I like to score, don't get me wrong, I don't want to take anything away, but in my position, I need to be more creative," the 29-year-old said.

"Last season, I finished with the top assists here and I'm trying to achieve that again but at the moment I'm doing the opposite and I'm scoring goals.

"When I score goals, it's great, but for me, I'd rather have an assist."

The Black Star joined the Championship side from Middlesbrough in summer last year.

He made 38 appearances involving 30 starts, three goals and 10 assists as the Claret and Blue Army finished 13th last campaign.
